Optimizers

Each strategy can have one or more arguments and its performance depends on these arguments. Obviously it is desirable to find combination of arguments that would maximize strategy profit or profit/drawdown ratio. Instead of manually running strategy with different combinations of arguments you can run it in optimizer. Optimizer will run your strategy with different arguments and list strategy results for different argument combinations so you can find optimal combination.

StraTrader supports 2 optimizers : Simple Optimizer and Genetic Optimizer (and we have plans for the third - Random Optimizer). Simple Optimizer runs strategy for all possible combination of arguments which may take a lot of time if the strategy has a lot of arguments and/or you selected small variation step. Genetic Optimizer creates random argument combinations and tries to find best of them and cross them to create even better combinations. It works much faster on big number of arguments, but it may return results that are not truely optimal.
